I had this same problem when I created a new gmail account, and logging in I was seeing a difference language that I couldn’t read, and believe me, it is really frustrating. In my Thinking below, I will show you the five simple steps which I followed to change the gmail language.
To change the language you use to see Gmail;
1. Open Gmail.
2. In the top right, click the Settings icon.
3. Click Settings, to go to settings page.
4. In the “Language” section, pick a language from the drop-down menu.
5. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
And that’s that, your current displayed language will be changed to the new one you choosed. I hope this helps.
To change the language in Gmail, click on the Settings gear icon in the top right corner of your Gmail inbox. From the dropdown menu, select “See all settings.” In the Settings menu, navigate to the General tab. Look for the “Language” section, where you can find the current language setting. Click on the dropdown menu next to it and choose your preferred language from the list. Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings page and click on “Save Changes” to apply the new language setting to your Gmail account.
