Christianity and Islam, the two largest religions globally, share common origins as Abrahamic, monotheistic faiths from the Middle East, yet are significantly different in their core beliefs, sacred texts, and theological interpretations.
Christians consider the Old testament as the Holy Word of God, believing the Bible, in its original languages (Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic) to be without error and trustworthy even in modern translations due to textual criticism. The Bible comprises 66 books, written by 40 authors over approximately 1,600 years.
Muslims, on the other hand, view the Quran as the uncorrupted, exact word of God, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by the angel Gabriel over 23 years starting in 609 AD. The word “Quran” means “recitation”.
While Muslims acknowledge the Torah, Psalms, and Gospels as divine books, they believe these have been corrupted over time through translations, asserting that no Arabic manuscript of the Quran has any variation.
