As a person who has very little sleep, I recently learned to control this by following a few steps that might help.
1.Turn off your phone 30 minutes before bed.
2. Ensure pure quietness (environment)
3. Take a nice warm bath/shower 20 minutes maximum
4. Close your eyes and count upto 20 backwards.

Im probably the strangest sleeper there is. I never thought about it until now, i dont fall asleep by tiredness or just go to bed of im sleepy. To sleep i need to close my eyes, think out something while my eyes remain shut and this way i always drift off to sleep unknowingly. Im also not a fast sleeper so i may wake up any time by any noise. Im like someone that is a sleep but actually thinking with my eyes shut while i lay down. I never snore well atleast not when im not extremely tired or if my body got some exercise and is exhausted tham thats another story. I dont get alot of sleep in due to my study routine and my body is perfectly adjusting to it.
