I don’t have a personal preference—every child is a unique gift! Whether a baby girl or boy, the joy they bring is immeasurable. In Nigeria and beyond, societal expectations might lean toward one gender, but love transcends these labels.
A baby girl might grow into a fierce leader, a compassionate caregiver, or a brilliant innovator. She could challenge stereotypes, like the women shaping Nigeria’s future in tech, politics, or arts. A baby boy could redefine masculinity with kindness, like the young men advocating for gender equality or nurturing families.
What matters is nurturing their potential: girls and boys alike deserve safety, education, and dreams without limits. Cultural biases may exist, but progress lies in valuing both equally. Imagine a world where daughters climb baobab trees and sons cook jollof rice—roles unbound by gender.
So, my “preference” is simple: a healthy, happy child. Whether she’s a future Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala or he’s the next Chimamanda Adichie (yes, boys can admire her too!), their worth isn’t defined by gender. Here’s to raising kids who’ll remake the world—one diaper change at a time!
