Once your partner display aggressive or compulsive behavior it is good to root where the behavior really originated. Even if it just starts with anger issues or anger management. Usually these behaviors can decrease if the stressors causing the behavior are looked at. The person may have had a rough childhood, a bad experience and many times its a trait that is hard to get rid of,like from the up bringing of your partner. Psychologist believe that different psychosexual stages at an younger stage of life that was unresolved, like lets say poty training since birth that was hard as a child or any other behavior that was fixated on can lead to future disturbances in personality, like aggressive, fustration, etc. Hopefully your partner can see a therapist to ease these symptoms or such.
