This depends on an individual things of interest. As for me, am super happy when am doing the things I love (that’s the things am passionate about). Honestly when you are into something that brings you that extra joy without being pressured, that is where your happiness lie. It could be on a job, carrier, education, etcetera. In other words, happiness is from within.
There are three main things that make people happy: close relationships, a job or past-time that they love and helping others. On the other hand, a recent research on happiness proof it that money and material things do not have a lot to do with happiness, and people who emphasize them are less happy than those who do not.
A happy feeling is influenced primarily by the release and balance of several key brain chemicals and hormones: dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and oxytocin. These chemicals affect the brain’s reward system and emotional centers, promoting feelings of pleasure, contentment, and social bonding. For example, dopamine motivates you toward goals and rewards, serotonin contributes to mood regulation and reduces depression, endorphins are natural painkillers that promote euphoria, and oxytocin is linked to social connection and trust. These hormones can be boosted by activities like exercise, meditation, social interaction, and even smiling.
Beyond the brain, happiness affects other body systems. It can cause physical reactions such as flushed faces or heart racing through the circulatory system, and changes in breathing, salivation, sweating, and metabolism via the autonomic nervous system. Feeling happy also supports healthier lifestyle choices, boosts the immune system, and reduces stress and pain.
In summary, happiness is a complex state driven by multiple brain chemicals working together and influenced by both biological and social factors, with effects that extend throughout the body.
