The Perfect Cup Of Coffee

The Perfect Cup Of Coffee

Have you ever walked passed a coffee shop and got that powerful smell of freshly ground coffee? I know I have, and every time it makes me want to walk into that shop and just order myself a nice warm cup of coffee with extra sugar, I’m sweet like that.

But do you know what’s better than that cup of coffee?

When a loved one makes it for you…

So what’s this post about, making coffee?

No my dear, it’s about appreciating the small gestures in life. Sometimes we take these little acts of kindness for granted and never really think about it or appreciate it. I’ve seen a woman give her husband food every day, but not once did he say “thank you”, not once did he look at her and give her a warm smile, to show her how much he appreciates it. I’ve seen a man make a cup of tea for his wife, and neither did she say anything to acknowledge his act of kindness.

Growing up, I’ve always dreamt of having a great relationship, where my husband and I would spoil each other with little gifts, surprise one another with dates etc. But now that I think about it, all I want is a partner who loves and respects me for who I am and I’ve found him. he doesn’t go all out and buy me extravagant gifts, but he goes all out and shows me off to his friends and family, he doesn’t spend as much money on me as others do, but he spends his time with me and always makes an effort to see me, even when he’s playing PS. Yes, he stops his game and gives me attention. It’s the little things that make us who we are. It’s these little acts that I appreciate, and though it may not seem like much to other, it means the world to me.

Why is it so difficult for us to cherish those little acts and appreciate these things that people do for us? Why is it so difficult for us to just say “thank you” without feeling compelled to do it? Is it because that’s how society has trained our minds, to only show appreciation for huge gestures and never for the little things?

I think it’s time for us to change this mindset. Let’s bring happiness into this world through realizing that love and kindness exists and needs to be shown, maybe then will we be happier and live our lives fully.

So even if your partner holds doors open for you, or pauses their favorite game, even if they wash the dishes or hide your snacks from the kids, and even if that cup of coffee tastes horrible, remember the effort your loved one went through to make if for you, remember their intention was to make you happy, to show how much they treasure you. So even if it tastes bad and you don’t drink it, don’t forget to smile and say “thank you”.
