Well just like stealing war and all the vices associated with human slavery began with the dawn of civilization, to be more specific it began in Africa during the growth of the great ancient Egyptian civilization. There is normally a Misconception that Europeans brought slavery to African but it is not true, even if the question is directed towards Sub Saharan African, there was a slave trade in existence long before the arrival of the Europeans although they cam to economize and perpetuate the slave trade towards their own selfish gains to build the so called New World. Before their arrival slaves were only people who were caught in a criminal act so they will be sentenced to be slaves for some years and after return to doing whatever they did before that.
From the early 1500s. The “from-this-point-forward” and “in-this-place” narrative arc silences the memory of the more than 500,000 African men, women, and children who had already crossed the Atlantic against their will.
Slavery started in africa in the 19th century when the the Portuguese and other European countries started expanding their colonies overseas along the coast of West Africa ,PORTUGAL was the first to start with the kidnapping and torturing of Africans then others followed
Slavery started in South Africa because south Africa was the first country in Africa to be developed
Slavery start in Africa in the 15 century, when Portuguese and other European Kingdom, were finally able to expand overseas and reach Africa…
Slavery in northern Africa dates back to ancient Egypt. The New Kingdom (1558–1080 BC) brought large numbers of slaves as prisoners of war up the Nile valley and used them for domestic and supervised labour. Ptolemaic Egypt (305 BC–30 BC) used both land and sea routes to bring in slaves.
Slavery in Africa dates back to ancient times, with evidence of organized slave trade and ownership found in various African societies. The transatlantic slave trade from the 15th to the 19th centuries significantly intensified slavery in Africa as Europeans sought cheap labor for the Americas. However, it’s important to note that various forms of slavery existed in Africa prior to external influences, including captivity resulting from inter-tribal warfare.
